COACHES are the MOST important of our volunteers. (no coach = no team) They are responsible for teaching & guiding our junior players through the fundamentals of basketball for one training session and one game each week. (maximum of 2 hours per week)

No experience is necessary. All that is required is a willingness to learn and to have an interest in helping our youth succeed and have fun.

On-court training coaching sessions are provided by the club, there are endless online resources and we have a great group of coaches who are always willing to lend a hand. 

- Each team requires 2 coaches - a head coach & an assistant coach.

- The role of an assistant coach is to actively help out the head coach and be a second support person for the kids. Often the assistant coach will help out with drills, passing the ball etc and encouraging players during training sessions. They would also sit on the player bench on game day and offer that same support and encouragement.

The TEAM MANAGER role is vital for ensuring a successful season—without a Team Manager, there’s no team! Here’s an overview of this key role:

• Core Responsibilities:
  • Act as the communication hub for the team, sharing important updates like game day information, club announcements, and training session reminders.
  • Use the Facebook Groups for all communication—it’s easy to use, requires no personal messages or phone calls, and allows you to share information at a time that suits you.

• Additional Duties:
  • Create a scoring roster.
  • Input player names on the iPad for game day.
  • Collect MVP votes from the team.

• Training & Support:
  • You’ll receive detailed instructions, access to a group chat on the Heja App, and a comprehensive Team Manager Guide.
  • Regular meetings are held to ensure all Team Managers feel confident and supported in their role.

 We are a non-for-profit organisation. No one gets paid to run the club or coach the players. As a community club, our aim is to provide a positive environment for our players to learn and grow within the sport of basketball. To create more opportunities for our players and improve our member experiences, we need to raise funds via our own fundraising efforts, applying for grants and through sponsorship initiatives. 

Do you have ideas or would like to be a part of the planning and implementing of club activities, fundraisers and social events?

Are you available to help with club BBQs or do you like speaking with businesses to obtain donations?

Help as much or as little as you can! There are so many ways to contribute to club fundraising and I'm sure we can find something to suit everyone's availability.
